FAQ's

How can I register for the 100-Acre Challenge?

Registration will open at 9am on the day of the race. Online registration can be done here.

What is the 100-Acre Challenge?

A 5K adventure obstacle race that we thought might be exciting in September when the weather could be a challenge in itself.

Where are you?

The 100-Acre Wood property is located at 41 Observatory Way, Intervale, NH 03845, just two miles north of the North Conway Scenic Vista, directly across from Town Hall Road on the west side of Route 16. Use our GPS coordinates: 44.101547, -71.153641

Who are you?

We are the Believe in Books Literacy Foundation. We have programs supporting literacy initiatives in northern New Hampshire and Western Maine.  Getting books into the hands of kids is what we do. It just so happens we have this awesome trail system on our property.  Net proceeds for the event will go directly to the Foundation.

Do I need to sign a waiver?

Uh, yeah. You will need to sign a waiver during the online registration process.

Will I get dirty?

Of course you will.

I am registered. What do I get?

You will receive an event T-shirt, a beer mug (over 21 - with one (1) free beer ticket), water bottle for those under 21.

Do I need to know how to swim?

No, but it's a good idea.

What about safety?

Certified First Aid staff will be on-site throughout the event.

Can kids sign up?

For ages 12 and under we will have the Mini Acre Challenge with special obstacles just for the young’uns.

What are the trails like?

Wicked nice.

Can I skip an obstacle?

No. You and/or your team must conquer all obstacles. Those who miss an obstacle will get a beacon and be airlifted off the property.

What if it rains?

What? Rain or shine, the event goes on!

Will there be food? Beer? Entertainment?

Food? Yes.  Beer?  Check. Entertainment? Of course.  Every competitor over 21 will also receive a free beer mug.

Where can friends and family watch?

Spectators can watch the Start/Finish and at various obstacles on the course.

What else can I do that weekend?

We are surrounded by 750,852 acres of the White Mountain National Forest. There are endless trails, rivers, streams, waterfalls, scenic views and activities. We are short drive from 16 major White Mountain Attractions, perfect for the family.  And North Conway is Outlet heaven for those with the shopping bug.

What should I wear/bring?

Wear comfortable, loose workout clothes that you aren’t afraid to ruin and wear hiking shoes or cross-trainers suitable for uneven terrain. We recommend you not wear anything of value, like an iPod, jewelry, or a CamelBak because they may get ruined. Keep an eye on the weather as the event approaches and pack accordingly.

Where do I check-in when I get there?

Come right to the Theater in the Wood.  We’ll be set up right there.

What time should I arrive?

Check-in starts at 9:00 am on race day.

Can I get a refund on my registration?

Registration is non-refundable.

Are pets allowed?

No pets are allowed on course during the event, but you can have them on-site provided they are on a leash.

Do you need volunteers?

Yes. We welcome anyone interested in helping out with the event.  Contact katie@believeinbooks.org or call 603-356-9980.
