Broadway in the Wood Summer Camp

at Theater in the Wood!

Supported by:

BROADWAY BOUND SUMMER CLASS SERIES:

A five-week musical theater camp series taught by local professionals and professionals that have just stepped off a Broadway stage for kids ages 8-15!

Each week is taught by a different professional assisted by BIBLF Theater Manager, Hannah-Jo.

Week Breakdown:

After an audition on the first day of camp, each camper will be given two songs or scenes or dances that they will be working on for the week to present in a Showcase for family and friends at the end of the week. Consider this Showcase a Broadway style review cabaret featuring moments from the campers’ favorite Broadway shows. Throughout the week, each camper will get one on one attention from the professional as well as play all the theater camp games we know and love. Doing camp this way allows us to really focus on education and teaching the campers about Musical Theater. It also allows us to give each camper more individualized attention and play to each camper’s strengths.

*Each week is limited to 25 campers.

Logistics: Camp takes place at the Theater in the Wood. Where we use the theater,

the theater stage, lobby, and the outside property for all our rehearsals and camp activities. Kids (ages 8-15) come prepared to have fun filled days including acting, singing, dancing, playing games, enjoying the fresh outdoors, all the while learning the fundamentals of theater from seasoned professionals. Campers are asked to provide their own sack lunch, as well as a small snack for later in the day.

Schedule: Monday through Friday between 9:00 am and 9:15 am, drop off will occur at the top of the stairs in the upper theater parking lot. Drop offs will occur with one camper/one family at a time. Pick up will occur Monday through Friday between 3:45 pm and 4:15 pm in the same fashion. On Friday, after dropping off the camper at the normal time, each camper’s family should arrive at 2:30 to watch a performance starting a 3:00. After all campers arrive, we start our planned activities & rehearsals! The Broadway Professionals will also teach songs and dances from their respective shows.

Auditioning: Campers will learn a dance, sing a song, and read some lines alongside other campers of similar ages. Then each camper will be given material that showcases their specific talents. Once the campers are given their assigned material, they will rehearse with one-on-one attention from the teachers. The campers will learn how to act through songs, dances, and scene work alike.

We will also learn fun theater & camp inspired games to make any downtime, fun and

inventive!
