What is the
Books from Birth Program?

The goal of the Books from Birth program is to provide free books and literacy education to children from birth, and their families, in order to foster a relationship with literacy and education that extends throughout the childhood years and beyond.

The Books from Birth program provides the gift of a brand new book to newborns in registered hospitals in Northern NH. A child’s first book comes in a cozy fleece pouch containing important literacy information for the family, and the opportunity to enroll in the program by mail-in postcard. Once enrolled in the Books from Birth program a child will receive a new book at no cost to their family during these important developmental stages:

Starting at Birth, then at 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, 1 year, 15 months, 18 months, 2 years, and then annual at their birthday until age 5.

By a child's fifth birthday, they will have their very own Books from Birth library containing 11 books! And if that child goes on to attend a preschool receiving our dynamic "Books in Character" Outreach Reading program, their library will continue to grow as they receive a brand new quality, age-appropriate book during each Outreach visit. Exposure to reading does not stop there, school age children may go on to enjoy the BIBLF Bookbag Program that encourages their love of reading by checking out BIBLF Bookbags filled with great books from their local Public or school library.
