Believe in Books Youth Theater

For years, Believe in Books Literacy Foundation has hosted many events that bring the magic of stories to life before children’s eyes. Whether its been Character Breakfast with Pooh & Friends, Earth Day with the Lorax, or traveling to Santa’s Workshop on the Journey to the North Pole, stories have a part in everything we do. Now we have created an opportunity for the youth in our community to jump into their beloved stories, and bring those characters to life themselves!

Believe in Books Youth Theater was created to take children’s creativity a little further, and introduce them to the performing arts! On September 8th & 9th we will be having open auditions for kids ages 7-18 to perform in the tony-award winning adaptation, Into the Woods Jr.!

We at Believe in Books Literacy Foundation truly believe in the power of a good story, which is why our mission is to advance healthy development of young minds that encourage early reading, imagination, and physical activity. As children grow, so does their thirst of knowledge and creativity. Performing is a great next step to help bring the magic of their stories to life.

Throughout the rehearsal process, students will experience the art of how stories can take us on a magical journey through our imagination, and will then get to share those stories for an audience. Rehearsals will be a few hours an evening, 3 nights a week for about 6 weeks. It’s also flexible scheduling, so you can participate in this show and most regular after school activities. :-)

Into the Woods JR. features many of your favorite fairytale stories – Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel and the Witch in this lyrically rich re-telling of classic Brothers Grimm fables. The musical centers on a baker and his wife, who wish to have a child but cannot because of a witch's curse. All the characters set off on a journey “Into the Woods” to fulfill their desires and wind up changed forever. This show has many fun characters, great music and stories known the world over - told in a fun way!

The best thing about all of this, is because we are a Non-Profit organization that raises funds to bring books to the communities that we serve; programs like this allow us to help kids, who are helping kids.
